In some women, after childbirth or due to thinning of the vaginal mucosa with age due to a decrease in the hormonal stimulus, the vaginal canal dilates. This dilation of the vaginal canal known as vaginal laxity syndrome can affect the sexual life of couples.
Vaginal laxity is a dilation of the vagina up to limits that cause decrease or loss of friction and / or decreased sensitivity.
These changes occur in some patients after delivery or, less frequently, after surgery in this area.
The treatment of vaginal laxity syndrome is performed with laser or radiofrequency depending on the case.
Genital CO2 laser
With this technology there is a contraction of the vaginal mucosa and / or the immediate urethra. Thanks to its biostimulation effect on the mucosa and the subepithelial chorion generates new collagen with a wall of the vagina and the more contracted urethra. Additionally, the vaginal mucosa will have more layers of cells and with more glycogen in its interior, that is, a mucosa healthier and renewed.
The treatment with genital laser for vaginal laxity is performed without anesthesia and without postoperative home care. Two-three sessions of genital laser that last approximately 20 minutes are spaced 1 month. Depending on the patient’s need, one maintenance session per year can be considered.
Before undergoing genital laser treatment for the treatment of vaginal laxity, a physical gynecological examination is recommended to assess the type and degree of laxity and a cervico-vaginal cytology.
